Step 8: Building Your Case (Look Smart, Dummy)
Major package redesigns will undoubtedly require multiple levels of approval and buy-in within your organization. Be prepared and build your case for why RRP is important and how the business can benefit. Some example of questions you should be prepared to answer include:
- How much will this cost?
- Why is this important to do now?
- Do I have to change existing equipment?
- What additional doors could this package design open that weren’t previously open?
- Will you receive a more direct response from buyers at the retailer instead of someone at the replenishment team?
This can be a difficult and time consuming step. Transitioning to RRPs is a journey and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution or a silver bullet. Remember here to tie it all together and highlight how you can gain efficiency. Get labor, cost and manufacturing all in check before you present it to your higher-ups.
